Our Riesling vines were planted in 1981, and are now some of the eldest in New Zealand.
Select Riesling - Wine making
Selective hand harvest of golden bunches on Selective hand harvest of golden bunches on 25th and 30th March 2020 at 21.7 brix (92.5 Öchsle), from the “front” old vines and the Back Spur block. Bunches were pressed whole and the resultant juices fermented cool in stainless steel.
Classic Riesling - Winemaking
Fruit comes from all three sections on the Estate. Each parcel was hand picked and bunch pressed. Juices were predominately fermented in stainless steel; though approximately 3% of the blend was fermented on skins, followed by aging in acacia wood. All components were aged on full ferment lees for around three-6 months.
